Curl crush…

Natural black hair textures range from tight corkscrew curls to small coils. The structure of tightly curled hair prevents the distribution of natural oils along the hair shaft, which causes tightly curled hair to be drier than straight hair. In order to maintain hair growth, those with natural hair must focus on retaining moisture. Surprisingly, one of the best hair moisturizers can be made at home: a shea butter and avocado oil mixture. These two ingredients prevent dryness by sealing moisture into the hair; they also contain vitamins that promote hair growth.
Prepare the Mixture
Step 1:
Place 1 cup of shea butter into a plastic mixing bowl. Heat the shea butter in the microwave until it melts completely.
Step 2:
Add 1/2 cup of avocado oil to the shea butter. Place the mixture into the refrigerator for 20 minutes, or until the mixture starts to solidify.
Step 3:
Mix the shea butter and avocado oil with the electric mixer. Mix until it turns into a light yellow, creamy substance.Step 4Check for lumps or unmixed oils at the bottom of the bowl with a spoon. Continue to mix the shea butter and avocado oil until thoroughly combined.Step 5Spoon the mixture into a plastic container. Place a lid on the container and store at room temperature.
Apply the Moisturizer
Step 1
Separate your hair into at least four different sections with your hands. Secure the sections with hair clips.
Step 2
Remove one of the clips and spread a handful of the moisturizer from root to tip. Use a seamless brush to distribute the moisturizer evenly through the hair.
Step 3
Apply the moisturize to each section of hair. Style your hair as usual.
Tip:There are many other oils that are recommended for black natural hair such as olive, jojoba, almond and tea tree oil. Try different oils to find out which one is best for your hair. If the moisturizer is too thick, add more avocado oil to thin the shea butter.

FRIDAY’S FUNKY FLATS!
Comb coil locks can be started on hair that is coily to kinky. If your hair will form a natural coil you can usually start your locks this way. You are basically using a comb to coax a section of hair to form a curl. This method is great if you have hair that is really short. However, any length of coil hair can be comb coiled.
Until your locks start to actually lock, you will need to be careful washing them. Some people recommend waiting at least four weeks before washing. If you choose to wait that time you can clean your scalp with an astringents like witch hazel or Sea Breeze.
Locks started with coils are usually maintained by twisting or palm rolling.
Once you learn how it is done, you may be able to start your own locks with comb coils.
If you would rather have someone else help you, most natural hair salons can start your hair for you with comb coils. Many offer twisting and palm rolling lock maintenance.
If you get your locks started in a salon it is usually less than $100
Locks formed with this method (and maintained by twisting or palm rolling) usually have uniform length and width.
You final lock will have a uniform look.
You have to be really careful washing your hair at first. If you work out a lot you may want to go for a method that doesn’t come a loose as easily.
If you get hand-in-your-head-itis (always twisting your locks) you can weaken your bases and cause your locks to thin.
It is very tempting to always have your hand in your head.
To keep the roots and bases of your locks looking neat you will need to re-twist them after washing.
